Hecho en Dumbo will be closing its doors for good next Saturday night, June 9th, after over 8 years on the Bowery.
We are thrilled that since our humble start as a pop-up in DUMBO over a decade ago, Mexican cuisine continues to evolve and flourish in our city and it has been a privilege to be a part of it.
Hecho en Dumbo arrived here in March 2010, taking over the space that previously housed Marion's Continental.
No. 354 has been on the rental/sales market this past year via several different brokers.

This is (was) a really good place I always enjoyed the food and often brought relatives and friends visiting from out of town here. It was always busy when I went. I wonder if an increase of rent is putting them out or if the Bowery restaurant "dead zone" is the reason?
ReplyDeleteThe mayor has his sights on 3rd, 4th and Broadway as the home of his legacy building "Silicon Alley". We will continue to lose more of our neighborhood's small businesses and 19th century buildings if he and his developers friends are not stopped. MId'town south will become a reality unless we push back. Attend CB3 meetings, white your city hall reps. When the zoning laws change permanently for our neighborhood condo towers will be coming next.

ReplyDeleteMarion's was the best. the best martini's (Dave? was the bartender) the drag brunch (were they the first?) and a couple days after 9/11 when all New Yorkers went out in the evening and lit a candle for hope and myself and a few friends were at Marion's and after the candle vigil we went back in to our martini's and the manager said everyone's bill was on him for the rest of the night, dinner included. Alas, a very different time and a much different neighborhood.
