Beetle House founder brings ridiculous milkshakes to 6th Street with Cake Shake

Cake Shake USA has arrived at 514 E. Sixth St. between Avenue A and Avenue B.

The shop's Instagram account simply notes: "Cake Shake USA COMING SOON TO NYC AND LA!"

Cake Shake is the creation of Zach Neil, the entrepreneur behind the Tim Burton-themed Beetle House on Sixth Street as well as the now-closed Will Ferrell bar Stay Classy on the LES and the short-lived 'Merica NYC on Sixth Street.

Neil shared a few posts via his Instagram account showing Cake Shake's vegan concoctions... such as this pop-mocha shake with vegan chocolate cake, handmade caramel corn, caramel, vegan whipped cream, etc. ...

Cake Shake will also serve over-the-top non-vegan items too, such as the Shake Rattle and Roll, aka the “Elvis” chocolate cake with peanut butter, chocolate ice cream, maple glazed bacon, banana, freeze dried banana cubes, fresh caramel and chocolate straws...

Cake Shack had a soft-opening sneak preview Saturday evening. No word on when they will be open full time.

The space was most recent recently an office for restaurateur Ravi DeRossi and DeRossi Global (they moved a short distance away) ... and Betola Espresso Bar before that.

  1. There is a drug epidemic hitting the lower east again, no it's not crack, heroin but sugar. Obesity and diabetes rates continue to rises and those that pedal these high caloric treats should be boycotted.

  2. WORD TO THE WISE: VEGAN MILKSHAKE? I GIVE IT 6 MONTHS MAX, LIKE ALL HIS OTHER GENIUS IDEAS.

  3. Vegan milkshake is an oxymoron. And the trend for hyper-calorific shakes is both absurd and massively unhealthy. I can feel my blood sugar going up just from looking at the photos of those milkshakes.

  4. Gonna echo the vegan milkshake poopooing. At least a dairy milkshake gives you a decent amount of nutritious fat and protein to go along with the sugar. Balance being the key to good eating. A vegan milkshake loaded up with cake sounds like a carb nightmare.

Zach's ideas so far might suck, but he seems to have an impressive motor. I feel like, if/when he happens upon a really good idea, he will be successful.

  5. Almost everything that Zach Neil has been involved with has been an ego-driven disaster. If it is his own money behind each of his failed attempts at becoming a Lower East Side entrepreneur, I couldn't care less what his losses are. If, however, he is suckering people into giving him money, you have to believe that there is a sucker born every minute. What an abomination this place sounds like.

  6. Geez, the east village doesn't need another ridiculous concept like desert waffles or vegan milkshakes. I'll give this place 6 months, but it's emblematic of a bigger change, for better or worse, contributing to rising rents and putting EV favorites out of business.

@11:03AM "if he happens upon a really good idea....." If my Aunt had balls she'd be my Uncle. This guy's dreams don't belong here.
