Molecule has closed on 10th Street

Last month, the owners of the Molecule Project, which offers a variety of clean drinking water alternatives, announced that they were closing their shop on 10th Street between Avenue A and First Avenue in mid-August.

Molecule is now closed, as of this past Friday...

The shop opened in July 2012, and lasted probably five and half years longer than some people expected.

  1. "Alternatives to clean drinking water" is perhaps not the best way to express it...

  2. This is one of the few businesses I'm happy to see shuttered. We're blessed in NYC to have exceptionally clean drinking water. Any "clean drinking water alternatives" sold here are simply bad for the planet -- they either require shipping bottled water or running reverse osmosis machines that waste power. So long Molecule!

  3. Clean if you enjoy the chemical poisoning of flouride.

  4. Last I looked, a BRITA® or WaterPik™ filter will remove a large amount of the fluoride from tap water.

I'm still more than annoyed that they add a toxic substance (rat poison) to the water, requiring us to filter it out. This is probably one reason fluoridation is considered more harmful to the poor, according to this article.

So, Anonymous 11:12, it is clean if you're able to filter it.
