Dua Kafe, serving Albanian-American cuisine, now open on 14th Street

Dua Kafe is now up and running at 520 E. 14th St. between Avenue A and Avenue B ... bringing a little homespun warmth to a block dominated by the impersonal chill of the EVGB retail-residential complex on either side of the address...

The menu, per the cafe's Instagram account, features Albanian-American cuisine with a variety of egg dishes and paninis ...

The hours don't appear to be set as the cafe remains in soft-open mode ... though regardless of the time, breakfast is served all day.

  1. I stopped by for a meat borek yesterday. As someone from the Balkans who knows his borek, I found it delicious, very filling, and at 7$ with a yogurt drink, very reasonably priced.

  2. I'll check them out for sure. Wishing good luck to these folks, it seems like it's tough for restaurants to get something going on that stretch of 14th St, let's hope for the best!

  3. Rooting hard for this place because it feels very homespun and different from your typical EV restaurant opening. But I felt the same about the short-lived Stuyvesant Organic Grill, and it's not only the similar location that brings that place to mind. I fear the hybrid cafe/ethnic menu, the inconsistent/unrealistic price points and the inevitable lacking online presence dooms this place.

  4. Without offering my opinion or fears, in case the owners are reading and are looking for positiveness instead of the usual around here, I'll just say good luck to you! I hope you succeed.

  6. What a cozy and awesome place, definitely my new go to place. The food is amazing, delicious byrek, love the qebap platter and Michelle’s panini. Can’t wait to try the rest. By the way the yogurt drink is so refreshing .
