A free staging of 'Room With Stars,' about growing up as a radical teen on the LES in the 1960s



An item of interest via Facebook... this reading of "Room With Stars" is happening tomorrow (Friday, May 31) at 8 p.m.

Join us for a free staged reading and talkback at the Catholic Worker’s theater, 55 E. Third St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue.

A new one-act by Nina Howes on growing up as a radical teen on the Lower East Side in the 1960s ... directed by Elizabeth Ruf Maldonado. Light refreshments will be served.

    Really took many old-time CW people back half a century! Except that Maryhouse was still the music school, and St. Joseph House was on Chrystie Street, and Kojak had not yet started using the 9th Precinct, etc. etc. (I think my sharpest memory of those years was going to see the Beatles.) Dorothy Day would have been proud of this earnest cast and their probing examination of activism and war and how American society was being torn apart. Now for a look at what is happening today, please come to hear people from NYC Extinction Rebellion on Friday, June 14th at Maryhouse, 7:45 pm.
