A talk about Up Against the Wall Motherfuckers tonight at MoRUS

A last-minute listing via the EVG inbox today...

Ben Morea is going to be onhand tonight at 7 at the Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space (MoRUS) for a discussion and screening of "Armed Love," Sean Stewart's short documentary profile of his time in the Lower East Side in the late 1960s.

In the film, Morea charts the evolution of Up Against the Wall/Motherfucker — the network of action-oriented radicals, freaks and street fighters who emerged out of the group surrounding the journal Black Mask during the late 1960s in New York City.

MoRUS is located at 155 Avenue C between Ninth Street and 10th Street.

  1. ANTIFA is the current day evolution of the Up Against the Wall Motherfuckers crew. FYI outside of the safety bubble of NYC and the East Village a Civil War is getting hotter and hotter.I saw the reality of it at Unite The Right in Charlottesville and am lucky to have only lost a tooth and not been hit by the Nazi car. Next year the Trump RNC will be here in Charlotte NC and I say join me and chant UP Against The Wall Nazi Klan Motherfuckers.

  2. I thought it was a fantastic evening with him. The museum host was very knowledgable on the topic as well. I wish I would have spoke up as they struggled to describe what might be a solution to the problems we have.

It was thrilling to be in the room with someone who believes in heavily in the power of thought and art through the expression of the human. Refreshingly anti-individualist without coming off as extremist (even though he's arguably an extremist, he lives in a world that has changed in some sense, at least in the US).
