Off to La La land for this Avenue B laundromat

[Top photos by Steven]

In laundromat news, Spin City is now the lyrical-sounding La La Laundry on Avenue B at 11th Street...

Not sure at the moment if the place is under new ownership... or if they just decided on a name change.

Meanwhile, La La Laundry might have just overtaken Bubbles N Go on Second Street as the neighborhood's wackiest-named laundromat...

  1. I guess there is money to be made in laundering.

  2. Maybe I'll try it for a ch-ch-change.

  3. I think it's new ownership because they changed the last wash hours to 8:30pm (which is an insane time to stop laundry in a city as busy as this, in a neighborhood with no immediate subway stops).

  4. Best cash business in the city.

  5. "Best cash business in the city."

I thought the owner of the laundromat across the street only had to come by to collect quarters in big bags, but recently I discovered he has to sit downstairs manning the spy cameras all day. I was doing my laundry one day AND watching the second highest-winning Jeopardy champion in history, James Holzhauer. One of the workers I know approached me and said, the owner wants to know if you're doing your laundry, or your watching TV?

It was embarrassing because I've been going to Cosmo's for decades, and have never been known to take advantage of their free TV privileges . . .
