New Yorkers Foodmarket, 107 Second Ave. between Sixth Street and Seventh Street, is an uncrowded grocery option (especially now that Key Food on Avenue A always seems to have a line outside).
The market has plenty of essentials in stock, including fresh produce, canned goods, paper towels, soda, etc., as seen in these photos from yesterday afternoon...
Two recent visits found just a handful of shoppers inside, all at a comfortable distance from one another.
New Yorkers Foodmarket is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
Thanks !
ReplyDeleteSomehow never even thought of them.
more expensive than my bodega
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info. definitely going there this week.
ReplyDeleteWent there last week and agree w/everything here.
ReplyDeleteAlso a good spot: the deli on the NW corner of 6th and B. (I am banking on the name, sorry) Well stocked, incl cleaning supplies, v nice and helpful people, and empty. Very tight quarters, but since it was empty that wasn't a problem.

Sunny and Annie. Welcome to the neighborhood!
DeleteI disagree. This place is not just notoriously overpriced but a nightmare if u wanna practice social distancing. The aisles are so narrow that if you find your self in one with another person you are doomed if they don't feel the need to keep their distance. I was also surprised that unlike say Key Food on Ave A. They were doing nothing to slow the flow of customers coming into the store. I would only go there if you in an emergency or if you are willing to pay 6 dollars for a block of cheese that you could walk 2 blocks and buy for $2.49.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for this! It's worth walking over there.
ReplyDeleteA shout-out for the grocers! Thank you, each and every worker, for showing up to work to keep us fed. You give us hope. Pay it forward, New York!
ReplyDeleteOne way is to lather up your best before going into grocery stores, and then at your squeakiest-clean. Those working in the shops and coming in after deserve it.
I so wish the grocery store cashiers had tip jars...they deserve it!
ReplyDeleteOnce you say everyone go it's empty, everyone goes and it's no longer empty! Please stop doing that. Just make a list of options. Also, the line into Keyfood isn't that long and moves fast. After all, what's the hurry? We're all on lock down and standing outside in fresh air is better than sitting inside gaining weight!
