Commodities has reopened

Commodities Health Food was back open yesterday at 165 First Ave. between 10th Street and 11th Street.

The market closed after the business day on March 29 for what turned out to be a two-week break during the COVID-19 crisis.

Moving forward, their hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Commodities also accepts EBT/SNAP and offers a 5% discount for seniors.)

Meanwhile, East Village Organic at 124 First Ave. reopened this past Friday after a similar two-week hiatus.

  1. That’s nice that they’re open but this reiteration of commodities is not a part of our community - it’s over priced and the staff can’t answer basic questions about the products- the juice bar is slapdash and awkward and we don’t need flat belly tea advertisements for christ sake

  2. While we were sad to see the previous ownership leave, we welcome the new owners and suggest that perhaps our “ community” might be a touch more Welcoming and a touch less judgmental. We have found the new owners accommodating as to ordering items and adjusting prices. Friendliness begets the same.
