A heartbreaking look at what's left of Middle Collegiate Church

Thank you to Billy the Artist for sharing these photos of the fire-damaged Middle Collegiate Church on Second Avenue between Sixth Street and Seventh Street...

  1. Both the church and the corner building were completely hollowed out, it’s just facades left.

  2. My stomach turned when looking at those dreadful, haunting photos. Much thanks to the photographer who took them. Sadly, there is literally nothing left to salvage. A complete demolition does look likely. Damn. Fuck 2020.

  3. I am shattered. My husband and I married at Middle Collegiate when Gordon Dragt was the reverend, and I held his funeral there, presided over by Jacqui Lewis, 13 years later. Two weeks from yesterday would have been my 28th wedding anniversary, and as was my usual custom, it was my plan to go by, stand in front of the church, look at it and think back to the wedding day. I cannot believe this. I just cannot. My God, what else can this accursed year take from us?!?
