Mystery signage reveal today on Ninth Street near First Avenue... what could it be here in the westbound Ninth Street?????? Looking forward to the official unveiling! Photo by William Klayer.

  1. Head North? Although, it's westbound.

This pandemic has taken us into themes such as North of NYC for one.

Real estate is on fire north of the city to the point where affordable housing and displacement of the poor are major concerns something that NYC is always experiencing.

  2. Hurricane evacuation route? SantaCon crawl 2021 route?

  3. A similar covered South sign is on 2nd Ave at 3rd (at least that one is in the right direction!) — can someone sneak a peek under the plastic??

  5. This morning on my walk I noticed a similar sign, but uncovered, at Broadway and 9th St. It points west on 9th St and the sign indicates that is the way to get to Route 9 North. Makes sense - West St. is Route 9, and 9th St leads to Christopher which takes you to West St. Mystery solved.

  6. Route 9 North is essentially the highway that takes you up to North of New York City that ends somewhere in the vicinity of Montreal in Quebec, Canada. Given the mass exodus of city people heading north of the city during this pandemic, I would not be surprised...
