I was wondering if any EV neighbors know something about this hum/drone my family and I have been hearing since fall. (We live on Third Street between Avenue C and D.) It goes in and out, but can go on for a long time — also at night. It hums on an F. A generator? I would love to find out what it is, and if it can be stopped.

It is probably a air ventilation or air conditioning and/or power generator for that unit that is on the roof of one of the buildings that are around you. I have one on a school building that is on all the time by me.
ReplyDeleteWe can hear it too on Ave c and 4th street. Very low, weird purring. Pulses every second. I'm wondering if there is a tunnel being drilled underground? It doesn't sound like building ventilation to me.
