Grant Shaffer's NY See

Here's the latest NY See panel, East Village-based illustrator Grant Shaffer's observational sketch diary of things that he sees and hears around the neighborhood and NYC ...

  1. I love Shaffer’s work. I’m enjoying the ongoing experimentation with color palettes. But I find myself especially drawn to those that are revealing of the city and that depict scenes most of us would otherwise not notice. They set his work apart, with their mixture of insightful subjectivity and the “I Am a Camera” objectivity of their photographic style.

  2. I love Grant's work as well. Colors work, but I do love the monochrome reds and blues. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE when he plays around with scale and perspective. The colors seem, dare I say, optimistic.
