Primary Day

Our unscientific poll of TWO EVG readers finds that it been slow-going so far at the polls, which are open to 9 p.m.

Among other races (public advocate, comptroller, borough president and city council, DA), voters will be picking the Democratic and Republican candidates for mayor.

And a ballot primer ...

  1. Voted on East 3rd. Not as slow as I've seen it but not busy.

No I didn't rank Paperboy Prince.

  2. I voted early on the first day polls were open at Campos Plaza and there were no lines - took me less than ten minutes! The poll workers there were awesome.

  4. Early voting at Campos Plaza is perfect: no lines, everybody super nice. I wish more people voted, the place was set up to accommodate many more

  5. Agree the Poll Workers were great!

But filling out the ballot took me a fair number of minutes, and then I had to double-check what I'd filled out just to be sure I'd done it correctly. And there was a wait to use a ballot-filling-out station, b/c there weren't enough of them now that we had ballots that take X minutes per person to complete.

I don't mind ranked-choice voting, but (a) it certainly takes more preparation to for voters to learn about & be ready to vote for 5 people than just to vote for 1, and (b) filling out the ballot made me feel like I was taking the SAT's all over again.

It'll be interesting to see what the outcome of this new voting procedure is, once they get around to tabulating it all next month.

  6. I also voted early at the Columbia Street location on the LES. It took longer to vote than before because the Rank Choice Voting system was confusing to people voting as it took longer for the volunteers to explain it to them and how to fill in the circles to vote.

  7. Carlina wins. She'll continued to get rolled by City Hall but anyone who thinks Hussein wouldn't have is naive at best.
