Workers recently removed the sign and cleared out the space here between Avenue A and First Avenue.
Owner Jeremy Spector confirmed that the Brindle Room is closed for now after 11 years at the address.
"We are currently looking for a new location. We hope to be open this fall," he said in an email. "We're looking at spaces in the East Village. However, we haven't ruled out another neighborhood. We came close on a space. But it fell through. So we will keep trying."
The Brindle Room was open for takeout during the early days of the pandemic but has remained closed since the spring of 2020.

Hope they are able to find a place in the East Village. Absolutely love their burgers
ReplyDeleteStill miss the hot breakfast donuts they used to offer,
ReplyDeleteYes - please stay in the EV - miss those cheeseburgers for sure
ReplyDeleteThis is great news! The Brindle Room is one of the restaurants I've missed most since the pandemic. I would be thrilled if they found another spot in the EV, but I'll travel to them regardless. Good luck Brindle Room folks!
ReplyDeleteNot surprised, walked by prepandemic and they served $20 poutine. O__O
ReplyDeleteGood for the wealthy I guess. Hope the chefs can land another or the same gig.
Back to the same-old-same-old world!
The Brindle Room is fairly priced. Their poutine was $14: https://brindleroomny.com/new-york-east-village-the-brindle-room-food-menu
ReplyDeleteThe burger was $15 and came with fries (and it's insanely good). This is not one of those pricy places that the EVGrumps usually complain about. Nice try though, A+ for effort 11:10am Grupmster!
Nice to see people calling out these grumps complaining about everything all the time!
Delete@11:10 - you live in NYC which is one of the most expensive places to operate a restaurant so prices are going to be high.
ReplyDeleteNon-complaining comment: Brindle Room is great and here's hoping they stay in the EV!
Spent 5 Thanksgivings there. Such warm memories of that space. Best of luck to Jeremy and his team. They have been missed.
ReplyDeleteHope they come back. My absolute favorite burger was here
ReplyDeleteMy 1st gig when I came back to NYC after a brief and stupid move upstate was cooking for Jeremy in the Brindle Room tent at Governor's Island. Brilliant experience & he remains one of my favorite owners/chefs in NYC. Unpretentious comfort food at (at least for NYC) very affordable prices.
ReplyDeleteI hope they find a new spot. Truly one of the best burgers in the city.
