[Updated] Flooding seen in Tompkins Square Park

The ongoing deluge from Tropical Storm Henri has flooded the east side of the main lawn of Tompkins Square Park ... Steven shared these photos from late this afternoon...
No sign of marine life just yet. Rain is expected to continue tonight. A flash-flood warning is in effect until 8:45 p.m.

Updated 8/23

Via Steven, here's a Monday morning look at the water ... which still appears level to yesterday...
The sun returns tomorrow for four straight 90-plus days...

  1. Thanks Steven for venturing out to document with such lovely and informative images, and thanks EVG for posting.

  2. If the drains would ever get cleaned this problem would be significantly less.

  3. The waste of water will continue from next to the dog park to Av B entrance at 9th St. 24/7 water running down to waste. Such a failure of a Parks Department.

    1. You know, I've made several 311 reports on that problem, under every conceivable heading, and it has been going on for years with no fix. That's drinking water, by the way. Such a horrible waste

      ... hundreds of gallons everyday.
