Wednesday's parting shot

Thanks to Grant Shaffer for the late-night (last night!) view of the East Village...

Since the waxing Moon is not visible -- presumably off right and low in the heavens -- the bright dot in the middle-to-right of the photo is either Altair in the constellation Aquila, or the planet Jupiter in the constellation Aquarius. A jet coming in for a landing at LaGuardia would be lower, and more bright than either a planet or a star. That's my best guess.

  2. I think the pink cloud above the power plant stacks could be the reflection from the Kosciuszko Bridge, which is lit up like a disco at night.
