Pillow-Cat Books is open now on 9th Street

We mentioned Pillow-Cat Books in this post last month ... this shop specializing in animal books opened late last week at 328 E. Ninth St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue.

Here's a description via a recent Instagram post:
Pillow-Cat Books is the first animal-focused bookshop in New York ... it is small, green, and filled with used, vintage and antique books in several languages and of all types: art, photography, design, literature, comics, children, etc. The books' only common denominator is that an animal or animal character has to be present.
Pillow-Cat is open Tuesday-Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.  You can find the shop's Instagram account here... and the website here.

  1. Time to remove free car parking from 9th Street and create more space for people. The sidewalks are extremely narrow between Avenue A and 2nd Avenue.

This shopfront is so pretty and the awning is an exercise in elegant restraint, for your EV signage troll has her own weaknesses and would not have been able to resist sticking a cat on there somewhere: >^..^<

    Welcome to the neighborhood!

  3. 8:23 is a great exmple of passive agressive comment!

I will provide alternate true meaning:
ACTUAL: This shopfront is so pretty and the awning is an exercise in elegant restraint, for your EV signage troll has her own weaknesses and would not have been able to resist sticking a cat on there somewhere: >^..^<
CORRECTED: This shopfront is so pretty and the awning is an exercise in elegant restraint, for your EV signage troll has her own weaknesses and you should have put a cat on there somewhere: >^..^<

  4. Pets are a sign of loneliness. Don't believe me look how popular dogs are now with 20-somethings.

  5. On the signage, the C of CAT appears to be a stylized cat/tail? Or am I reading into this?

10:25, your signage troll—born in Brooklyn, TYVM—has no use for passive aggression. I'm not even particularly fond of sarcasm. If I find signage to be fug, I will just say so. I was clearly making a self-read with my earlier comment, do try to keep up.

As it turns out there IS a full cat illustration on the SIDE of this very honestly elegant awning, so the issue here is moot.

  7. Pets are a sign of loneliness? Pets are a sign of compassion, especially if they're a rescue.
