Thursday's parting shot

An EVG reader shared this photo from early this morning ... 4:50 a.m. to be exact when Con Ed had two workers spend two hours or so power washing the graffiti-filled substation along Avenue A between Fifth Street and Sixth Street...

Updated 10/1

About 12 tags arrived less than 24 hours later... a sampling...

  1. And the cost of that graffiti vandalism is included in your Con Ed bill; just remember that if you think "tagging" is just a fun thing kids do.

  2. These workers should hire out independently in the EV. Lots of work for them.

  3. I wish the graffiti kids could develop a style instead of copying everything done in the 70's and 80's. I guess when you are a pretender that's the best you can do.

  4. Yeah I’m sure the two hours of this guy power washing are driving your bills up and not the millions of dollars coned execs pay themselves every year: https://www1.salary.com/CONSOLIDATED-EDISON-INC-Executive-Salaries.html

  6. There's a security camera in these photos. Does it work? Does anyone give the footage to the cops? Can the cops be arsed to take action?

"US justice officials have issued an arrest warrant for Dutch resident Robbert Boxem who went to New York as a ‘graffiti tourist’, the International Herald Tribune reports. The paper says the 23-year-old from Zwolle could get up to four years in prison if convicted. He has been indicted on charges of spray-painting a subway carriage and leading police on a dangerous chase along the tracks."

  8. @10:54am: Yes, it does add up, especially if it has to be done every day of the year!

  10. This situation - the casual, entitled vandalism, and the need for others to expend time & energy & money to clean up after the vandals - is one more accurate example why American society is going down the drain. Vandals are destructive, period; they are drag on society and they do nothing but destroy.

Don't even call this shit "graffiti"; it's just crap done by jackasses who haven't got an intelligent idea in their heads. They are just losers.
