Don't know anything about the incoming business... other than that there's plenty of competition for CR7 (named for Cristiano Ronaldo?) within steps of the corner, including Food You Desire 3 and the Deli & Smoke Shop (not to mention the new Manhattan Smoke Shop).
This arrival also means that Spiegel will not be returning to this space. There were rumors of the cafe's return this past summer, and ownership was even on the CB3-SLA docket for a liquor license (application withdrawn in July). The corner cafe opened in 2014 and closed during the pandemic.
That block doesn't need another deli.
ReplyDeleteNo block does... it's becoming ridiculous.
DeleteWould be nice to have one deli in the area that looks like you'd actually want to eat a sandwich made inside. Will this be it??
ReplyDeletebetter the nothing Other it would stay another vandalized store front s
ReplyDeleteCR7 is Christano Ronaldo line of clothes
ReplyDeleteAny store is better than no stores even if it's weird to have 3 delis in a row on 2nd between 1st and A.
ReplyDeleteNo one here lives on a 3 delis corner? The delivery trucks noise, idling, and beep beep backtracking, in the middle of the night and very early morning is a good reason to oppose this trend.
ReplyDeleteSpiegel--another real community asset now lost, a place where people could, you know, sit durng the day and order a reasonably priced, well prepared meal. All we have now increasingly are "nightlife" spots...Tony's Tequila Hut etc.
ReplyDeleteSpiegel was a really nice place to hang out, met a lot of cool people there, good memories
ReplyDeleteWhatever haters, the more delis the better. Lost the best one on 1st and 10th. What we don’t need are starbucks, trader joes, targets and bars. Welcome to them!
