Lights out: Bulb Concepts has closed on 7th Street

Bulb Concepts has closed at 13 E. Seventh St., just east of Cooper Square.

EVG regular Salim shared these photos... showing that the small shop's exterior has been cleaned out.
There wasn't any mention of a closure on their lightly used social media properties.

Jessie Lee and Anthony Wong opened Bulb Concepts in October 2013 (read our feature here), offering a nice variety of light bulbs, commercial and residential light fixtures, lamp parts and more. They also had many hard-to-find items and always provided friendly and attentive service.

The couple sold the business at some point, though the service remained the same.

Bulb Concepts was one of those little specialty shops we'd love to see more of in the neighborhood. They will be missed.

  4. I went in for parts for a DIY lamp rewire. They also helped out with a little soldering that I probably wouldn't have been able to do -- no charge.A loss to the neighborhood for sure.

  5. This is a genuine loss to the neighborhood, b/c it was a true local small business that provided service with a smile, and whose owners were an asset to the community. This shop, and its owners, made me wish I needed light bulbs more often.

I wish them well in their future endeavors.

  7. Sad news. This was a real resource to have in the neighborhood. I got Christmas tree lights by the foot there, and all sorts of very particular bulbs over the years.

  8. Shit.... an other one...
I had a vintage chandelier I brought back from France entirely rewired there.
I will buy lightbulbs and cool electric wire.
Definitely going to miss this one.
    Specific shops are so important...😪

  10. They were so helpful. I only had to go there a couple of times, but both times i had really positive experiences and don’t know of any other place I could have go to for what I needed. It is indeed a shame to lose a unique business like that.

  12. Bummer. Now the only specialty bulb store left in the area is the one on 14th and 6th - also nice people, and helpful when it comes to answering questions, but this one hurts..

  13. the only place to get those weird ass bulbs, now the hardware on 7th is the only place if you are lucky. havent been to the EV since late 2020 and the number of shops that changed over, closed, burned down is off the hook for this small area.
