In the interim, they are using the for-lease retail space in the newish residential building at 24 Second Ave. (at First Street) for a show titled "Voilà L'Afrique," featuring the works of Jimbo Lateef, Dankyi Mensah, Bamouin Sinzè, Oscar Nelson and Ayi Mensah. (Read more about it here.) The exhibit is here through March 12.
The pop-up gallery is open Monday-Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Great use for the space. It will stay vacant for I while; I hope there will be more art shows like this.
ReplyDeleteYou know there used to be an art gallery in the lobby of that building before and I had tried several times to get inside to see the artwork, but the doors were always locked, and it never seemed like anyone was working inside. I thought it was just a scam to bring value to the pricey residential apartments in this building by having an art gallery on the main floor. Hopefully this time this gallery will be open for public viewing of the artwork on display. I will keep you informed.
