Yes! No rooftop parties. As I walked home to Alphabet City from my shift as a waiter in the west village last night, there weren't a lot of people out as there usually are. It was absolutely gorgeous. I didn't have to walk in the street bypassing drunks to get to my apartment or get pushed to the side of a building on a sidewalk by obnoxious bros or step over puddles of vomit. Winter is my favorite season because not only was I born during this period, but because it is a time of reflection and solitude.
ReplyDeleteLast week, I was shoved by an extremely rude 20-something woman into the sandwich sign at Miss Lilys. She said something obnoxious as well and I realized it was the first time I'd had a physical encounter on the street with a stranger for at least two years. I guess we're back to "normal" now with the entitled brunch crowd swarming back to our neighborhood like flies on trash. Woooo!
