A memorial for Jack the cat on 7th Street

In recent days, several EVG readers (thank you!) have let us know about Jack the cat, "who was so super adorable and hung out on the fence between B and C on Seventh Street."

Jack died in May, though the memorial arrived on the north side of Seventh Street at the start of the weekend...
A message at the memorial states that Jack died after an illness. "Many thanks to all his friends — he so looked forward to your visits... We all miss him."

  1. I live on 7th street and passed Jack on a daily basis. I am a cat dad myself and loved him so much when I would stop and pet him. Such a friendly, beautiful cat with so much personality and warmth. I wondered for the past two months what became of him. I thought perhaps his owners moved away with him. Sadly, that wasn't the case. When I discovered the memorial, I felt a pit in my stomach. I went to work and cried. That is how much this cat touched my heart. I hope his parents read and know this. My condolences to them. I cannot imagine losing my cat. It is the equivalent of losing a family member. RIP sweet Jack :(

  2. How did I not know about Jack?!? While I never met or played with him, I hope that he is bouncing around over the Rainbow Bridge with many pals, waiting until his owners join him again for eternity. RIP, and condolences.

  7. Rest in peace, sweet Jack. I loved seeing him on the fence as I walked on that block. I had missed his presence and wondered what had happened to him.

  10. RIP, Jack, I did not know thee. What a lovely watercolor likeness.

Though sometimes sad, I do LOVE reading and seeing pictures/video of our neighbors' pets. Any chance of making such posts more regular? This blog just gets better and better. What ever happened to rent-stabilized apt. portraits? Loved that feature, too. (You are) such a community treasure, grieve.
