Thursday's parting shot

EVG reader Garrett Rosso points out that for the first time since its arrival in late 2014, the "Alphabet City" mural has been tagged on the SW corner of Avenue C and Sixth Street ... on the (rather mysterious) RCN Cable building.

The ABC mural is the work of Brooklyn-based artists The Yok and Sheryo. And there was a little bit of controversy when this mural first arrived.

  1. God it is so depressing that these assholes are defacing everything and getting away with it. The amount of graffiti lately is out of control.

  2. I live down the block, and unfortunately, the mural's been left to deteriorate over the last few years. Personally, I think it brings some nice color and energy to that corner – but since no one cares about its upkeep, kids tagging it will most likely only continue. The kids don't care and don't have much respect for what came before them.

  3. The tags aren't even good.

  4. Not even any good graffiti in area … all hideous! Also whomever owns that building they do not care for the streets around it .. always covered in litter .. at all times.

  5. Something new needed to be painted. The throw ups are simply a catalyst towards Loisaida seeing something fresh.
