Openings: Le Burger on 5th Street

Photos by Stacie Joy

Le Burger has debuted at 540 E. Fifth St., just a little west of Avenue B. (First noted here.)

As the name implies, the restaurant serves a variety of burgers (see the menu below) ... and they offer wine and draft beers.
According to the questionnaire from July's CB3-SLA meeting, ownership previously ran the now-closed UES spots 1742 Wine Bar and Giorgio's Brick Over & Wine Bar.

For now, the space is open from 5 p.m. to midnight. No sign of a website yet, though Le Burger is on Instagram.
Black Iron Burger was in this space for nearly six years before closing in 2019

  1. Die hard Paul’s fan but nice to have new non-chain burger options in the hood!

  2. Ate there last weekend. They have early-opening kinks to work out, but basically good.

Once the milkshake machine is up and running and they remember to ask how you want the burger cooked (in their defense, we didn't specify) this battle station will be fully operational.

  3. Putting ketchup on a burger is just wrong.

  4. Putting mayo on a burger is wrong and horrifying, especially if it is mixed with ketchup. Gross! I think mayo is one of the most disgusting food items on the planet. Ketchup is the only condiment I like and which belongs on a burger :)

I can't wait to check this place out.

    1. Put whatever you want on your burger. Don't tell me what to put in my mouth.

    2. Whoa! Ketchup is delicious. Especially on burgers!

    3. Funny how Americans, who generally won't touch a tomato, are addicted to all tomato sauced things, from pasta sauce to pizza to ketchup, the most boring of condiments. It's the sweetness addiction.

Mayo is great, a must with fries.

    4. Skip the ketchup and use sliced tomato. A freshly made mayo can be nice, but I can't stand it out of a bottle, nor on my burger. A good, brown mustard on a beef patty is fine

  7. You know who hated mayo? Barack Obama. Detested it and made certain it wasn't in the kitchen of the White House during his two terms. He is my hero. I hate mayo too. Ketchup is the only condiment a burger needs. This menu looks great!

  8. The bun - the bun makes or breaks a burger (or a hotdog, for that matter). The rest is personal taste, including green relish.
