As we first reported, Ricardo Arias and Patricia Valencia, the husband-and-wife owners of the popular Cuban restaurant, were facing a rent hike from $8,000 to $15,000 per month.
On Monday, EVG contributor Stacie Joy stopped by to find the owners packing up the space.
On the positive side, they have identified a new location not too far away... though the owners haven't signed a lease just yet. Stay tuned.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!! I didn’t know! 🥺😢 I just walked there to have lunch only to find it closed. That has been my favorite restaurant for years! I’m so sad. I hope they’re able to find a new space and open quickly. I am absolutely disgusted by the landlords. So gross.

ReplyDeleteI used to eat at that place every couple of weeks with a couple of my Cabrini co-workers, for the last couple of years that facility was open and remember Patricia and Ricardo being so friendly and wonderful. I never really came back to that area for any reason, but still so sad to see it close.
ReplyDeleteI just told one of those people I ate with there (who lives/works in NJ now) and she was very sad to hear also. Glad to hear they have found another spot and I will definitely seek it out if I'm anywhere near there in the future. All the best of luck for the new place!
