Over the past two days, workers have removed several stumps from around Tompkins Square Park (using the trusty Rayco RG70X!) ...
... one of the workers said the city will be planting new trees in these spots...
The Park has lost several trees in the past few years... like this one... and this one... and this one.
It is about time they removed those old tree stumps and started planting new trees in that park. Kudos to the NYC Parks Department better late than never.
ReplyDeletenow if we can keep dogs from peeing on the new trees ...
ReplyDeleteThe park needs a major renovation it has been decades since last one was done. Efforts over past few years have been piecemeal approach.
ReplyDeleteGotta start somewhere, this is good news.
ReplyDeleteA major renovation would probably close off a lot of the park for a long time, so piecemeal sounds good to me. The sooner the better for new trees!
ReplyDeleteThe state of the park is moving backwards unfortunately.
ReplyDeletethis park is beautiful and perfect and needs nothing. now we have to gentrify the park too?? fine take the stumps add new trees otherwise just leave it alone. how about protecting our neighborhoods character, diversity, soul, grit???
ReplyDelete@Glamma: The park is already gentrified.
