A Sunday drive on 7th Street
Late this morning, this minivan was pulling over by St. Stanislaus on Seventh Street between Avenue A and First Avenue... when the front right tire went over the manhole cover ... which apparently was not secure, and it flipped up, trapping the tire inside... (thanks to Drew for the pics!)
No word on how long it took to free the van.

That is crazy - once in a lifetime event
ReplyDeleteTwo officers from the NYPD who appeared to be walking a beat along with a couple of passers by helped free the car. Took about 15 minutes. I don't know about others but I have seen cops on foot periodically in the hood.
ReplyDeleteThere was a bright orange cone right next to that manhole to warn drivers/pedestrians but guy just drove into it. Manhole was partially out already but guy wanted to get a parking spot
ReplyDelete... what happens when you're busy on your cell phone and you disregard the orange caution cone.
