ICYMI: Superiority Burger debuts in new East Village home

On Saturday night, the Superiority Burger team unwrapped and illuminated the signage at its new home, 119 Avenue A ... officially launching a new era here between Seventh Street and St. Mark's Place.

ICYMI, EVG contributor Stacie Joy got the first look at the space, the former Odessa Restaurant. You can check out our post here from yesterday for more.

For now, SB is open from 5 p.m. to midnight, Thursday through Monday. They plan to expand the hours in the weeks/months ahead to include lunch and, one day, breakfast service.

And about the sign: Tamara Shopsin designed it. (She and her husband Jason Fulford also created the SB placements and menus.)

  2. I love the "Focaccia Sometimes", that's too funny!

I'm super excited for them to open and I got a big smile reading that Tamara Shopsin designed the sign. The Shopsin family is so endearing, love them and their restaurant to pieces!

    Welcome Back Superiority Burger team!

  3. Well, they definitely sound healthier than Impossible and Beyond burgers. (I googled). But they don't open until 5 and it'll probably be an annoying clusterf*ck every day.

  4. We went last night and the new space is great, reminded me of the old days late nights at Odessa. The only thing that's missing is the original superiority burger sliders, I'm not a fan of the "mega mouth" big burger, really hope they find a way to put the sliders back on the menu, they were the best!

  5. Honestly not trying to knock it because maybe I'm a dumb dumb but shouldn't it be big red letters "Superiority Burger" followed by smaller "Restaurant". Or perhaps its a joke in the vein of Focaccia sometimes (which is hilarious).

  6. @anon 3:19. No, that's just not the design of this. You can have a big logo with your name or you can be subtle. A lot of classic places advertise restaurant first. I like it. If you don't "get it" that's all good too. It's all tongue in cheek anyway.

  9. I have been so blissed-out by this opening; SB is truly awesome, down to the little details. For instance, they serve a cup of tea with Demerara sugar cubes; I don't normally even take my tea with sugar, but I did this time!

Everything is great—everything, especially the sign.

  10. @9:38 nah, you corny. It's nice and subtle and funny. You prolly like "SMOKE SHOP" signs or some yuppie shit.

Actually, Brooks says he's going to expand the hours to include lunch—and eventually breakfast.

This place has been worth the wait—trust me.
