[Updated] 8 new trees on a truck in Tompkins Square Park

Workers have a truckload of new trees (eight in total) here at the St. Mark's Place entrance to Tompkins Square Park... presumably for planting in the park.

They were still on the truck when N&Lon7th snapped the photo this morning.

We like new trees.

  1. That is good news when the city replaces trees in city parks and on city streets instead of usually allowing them to be cut down.

  2. Two news trees were also planted in the sidewalk by the east church yard of St Marks. The dogs are already peeing on them.
I put a Parks Dept sign to NOT PEE ON TREES on the flowering tree in front of our building. Despite zip ties & wires fastening it to the tree guard, someone ripped the entire sign off! Dog walkers, trees and tree pits are not a toilet! Grow up!

  3. Mayor Adams was just visiting TSP and of course some people made nasty comments about him. Are those people Rudy fans ? Do they "like" sex abusers ? Are they racists ? Well how about new trees for the park ? I cannot remember when a mayor sent so many new trees there. How about some thanks for Mayor Adams ?

    1. Adams is not the most amazing character to play mayor here in NYC, but Giuliani was the WORST mayor ever in NYC. “Hi, my name is Rudy, and I’m an alcoholic “.

    2. Trees are planned a few years in advance. The fact is Adams has cut the parks budget more than any recent Mayor. And by the way, three or four years ago there was a large planting of trees in TSP. The protective fencing remains around most of them.

    3. Adams su*cks but Giuliani is worse. A low bar to be sure.

  4. @2:24pm: Why are you so sure the trees are the mayor's doing??

  5. Good news. Now if only people read the orange signs telling others to stay off the lawn since it has been recently reseeded. I guess some don't care or can't read.

  7. Great - now we need to make sure they get watered and not perish

  8. Adams had nothing to do with these trees.

  9. Planned a few years in advance so not Adams? By that logic I guess we have to throw a party for DeBlasio, who's chipping in for the soda and chips?

  10. @1:51 LOL where do you want dogs to go? Dogs go on tall objects like that. Sometimes, it's not at the curb, but on the tall object by the curb. That's just what animals do.

    Yeah, LOL.
Dogs do in fact control humans. Almost as much as a twitter feed.
