  1. There's a show there right now, headlined by Soul Glo, no?

  2. I wish they’d stop handing out the permits like candy. Why does TSP have to stay attached to this part of its past? The era is long gone, let’s just treat it like a regular civilized park….

It's not part of the park's past, it's part of the park's present.
There is an entire city around us where you can sit in leafy parks with varying degrees on maintenance and sip your Starbucks and look at your phone?

Tompkins Square is a little different and that's good. That's flavor.
You may not like particular flavors. I don't mind the punk metal, though sometimes the quality is a bit ... low (just my opinion). And some of it draws a big crowd which is people enjoying themselves. I love the jazz. The singer songwriter who has been setting up has a really nice voice and is enjoyable now that he doesn't play soft acoustic songs too loud.

There is also a downside IMHO. The fuzz rock trios that decide to just set up and rock not as part of a show are annoying. That occasional DJ who sets up late night and blasts house music to the empty late evening is a menace. Buskers with backing tracks are annoying. Parties of nice people that jump the fence, sit on the lawn and have a full DJ imposing on everyone are insensitive and entitled (I really doubt they get a permit) Embrace the good with the bad.

The past is never dead. It's not even past
