Holy smokes, that sky today!

You may have noticed the orange, smoky glow in the sky today...
Per NBC New York:
The wildfires in the eastern provinces of Quebec and Nova Scotia are sending smoke pouring back into the New York City area again on Tuesday, causing smoky, hazy skies and some of the poorest air quality in the country [world!] this week.
... and a Midtown view from the EV around 6:30 p.m. ...
The state's Department of Environmental Conservation issued an air quality health advisory through midnight tonight.

  1. Interesting: I've just kept thinking it was going to rain everytime I looked at the sky today; glad it didn't.

  3. The reddish hazy sky looked like something out of a Blade Runner movie hard to believe that it is being caused by forest fires all the way up north in Canada.

  4. I'm a veteran of the California wildfires over the last 8 years. This is exactly like that. Wear an n95. Don't work outside. Hope the smoke blows away soon

  7. Actually we need the rain to wash away the smoke. Now imagine when this starts happening in Upstate New York, which is probably where the fires are headed next as drought and record heat levels are expected to spread. Pray for rain.

  8. Can someone clarify if that smell 1pm is electrical fire at Con Ed or Canadian smoke. Literally smell is making me sick and hope it goes away soon.

  10. I just picked up a few new Kn95 masks and they are much better than the surgical masks, especially outdoors where the air quality is horrendous. The air is much worse than Mexico City and Mumbai, India which were the worst I have experienced until today.
