Tuesday's parting shot

Happy 4th! Hope your dogs are less traumatized (except for the 500 people lighting fireworks on the block).

Back later with a round-by-round analysis with letter grades!

  1. Air Quality last night at midnight after the fireworks was 218 (Very Unhealthy) and the ozone is still at 500 (Hazardous) this morning. Now I'm kinda glad I stayed indoors and watched the fireworks on a live stream.

  2. Beautiful.

My cat is traumatized by the fireworks. Each year he cowers near the toilet in fear just like when a thunderstorm rolls in. Very sensitive to noise. I dread this night because of how much it freaks my fur baby out. And there were more fireworks locally here in the EV that went past midnight.

  3. My cat and I always spend the fireworks display in the bathroom with the shower running and tuned in to WQXR. Try that next time.

  4. Helicopters WTF!! All they needed was to blare Ride of the Valkyries!
That had to all be law enforcement, right? Who else would have clearance for such activity?

Nope. News copters do not have authority to zoom in and out and around and INTO the firing field. Which is what these were doing. Also, news copters are not painted two-tone black and white.
I mean seriously, are you suggesting that news copters didn't cover fireworks last year, or any year before? Because they always have. Yet never been the type of air traffic seen last night. No news station gets clearance for that kind of air traffic under those conditions.
Unless something changed, really big, starting this year.
