Dunkin' shutters on Cooper Square

After 10 years of dispensing doughnuts and coffee, the Dunkin' outpost at 67 Cooper Square has closed.

A for-lease sign now hangs in the front window here between Seventh Street and St. Mark's Place. Workers cleared out the space last week.

Apparently, the 10-year lease was up. The brand arrived here in the summer of 2014, the new tenant after Norman's Sound & Vision decamped to Williamsburg

Dunkin' was always a nice alternative to chains like Blank City Coffee.

  1. If the next business starts with the letter “D” they won’t have to change the door handle. #business

  2. They were convenient and affordable. Not everyone needs their coffee "curated" or whatever the chi-chi coffee places do these days.

I'm not ashamed to say that Dunkin's coffee is fine, b/c to me coffee is simply a source of caffeine.

  3. Another vacant storefront that will be vandalized I’m sure

  4. I counted 16 closed retail spaces between 1st St and 7th St on 2nd Ave today; when DD leaves the neighborhood, it doesn't bode well for future retail.

  5. This Dunkin was managed soooo poorly. Sad to see it go but the least surprised. You can’t blame everything on rising costs and rent.
