The signage says "electric bicycle/motorcycle sales and service."
This will be the second e-bike shop to open in the East Village during the first quarter of 2024. Signage for Daniel's Bike Shop recently arrived on 14th Street near Second Avenue.
There has been a lot of turnover in the two storefronts here since 9300 Realty (aka Steve Croman) purchased the building in February 2011 for $2.3 million... starting with Julius Klein's studio/gallery space, which moved on in June 2012.
Right now I would be very concerned about living in any building with a ground floor ebike shop. Someone else just died in a fire caused by one in Hamilton Heights this week.
ReplyDeleteYep, that's the old shop & that might be the very A/C I had left the many yrs ago !?!
ReplyDeleteThere really needs to be some sort of small biz rent guideline structure in commercial leasing: I understand the concept of the "the market rate" for store fronts offsetting the financial restraints of rent stabe apts - certainly apropos for small, 1-2 building owners - BUT, large real estate co's, helmed by the likes of Stallings/Croman & Kushner, do not deserve the right to wreak havoc w/our, or any neighborhood in this city.
The above story about GIZMO is heart-breaking, and tho I know they will persevere, the stress & trauma is criminal ...
PS: Thx for remembering me :-)
Definitely worrisome.
ReplyDeleteAlso where/how do these stores and also tourist e-bike rental stores do recharging?
How long until it explodes?
ReplyDeleteSo long-time Gizmo's sewing shop is forced out.
ReplyDeleteBut a new ebike sales/service shop as part of the infrastructure to help make sure that the young wealthy can get their instant gratification food delivery...
