Saturday's opening shot

At the entrance to Tompkins Square Park at Seventh Street and Avenue A this morning ... there are two new trees the city recently planted here (replacing this one).

  1. Hopefully the neighborhood dog owners will keep their leg lifting charges away from the new tree.

  2. @arts+projects: Not as long as people are allowed to let their dogs loose in every field. Remind me again: what is the point of having a dog run when everyone's dog is too "special" to use the common dog area?

  3. I was threatened by a dog walker in the unallowed green space today because I asked her not to trample on the daffodils. She threatened myself, she then threatened my wife and stalked us home. These people with their “special animals” need to go to the countryside - a shelter would not let these people adopt. As a man that’s raised over 30 animals in my time and have had no issues with them- this is green space- let it be green space

  5. I am surprised they didn’t at least cordon this tree off. The volunteers at Friends of Tompkins Square Park had the smarts to do this to areas they newly planted in fall 2023.
Maybe neighbors don’t know but both parks dept and neighbors help to maintain the gated areas. I wish others would be respectful of their work.
