Tompkins Square Park loses an elm tree

A Parks Department crew was seen this morning tending to an elm tree inside the entrance of Tompkins Square Park at Seventh Street and Avenue B.

While it initially appeared they were pruning branches, it became clear the workers were tasked with removing the entire tree.

  4. Not that I care for Carlina but really? You actually think she had anything to do with cutting down this tree?

  5. My guess is Dutch Elm disease? They wouldn’t take it down unless it was dying or diseased…

  6. Our (thankfully outgoing city) council person has not met a tree she didn't want to rip out.
