Welcoming back another East Village sidewalk

Photo and reporting by Stacie Joy

The scaffolding/sidewalk bridge is coming down around PS 64/Earth School on Avenue B between Fourth Street and Sixth Street.

The construction crew says, "80% of the structure is coming down, and there is still work being done on a small part."

It will be nice to see the building again. It seems like that sidewalk bridge went up when Mayor LaGuardia was in office.

  2. It’s a classic school building. Will be nice to see it again for all three schools and the neighborhood!

  3. This scaffolding went up when my kiddo was in kindergarten and they are now in 3rd grade! We are SO happy it’s coming down because now we can access our roof top garden again! Yay!

  4. Why does scaffolding at schools stay up for so long? The one just north of the Williamsburg Bridge on the Manhattan side has been up for 2.5 years. It's clearly construction scaffolding yet workers barely do anything.
