Campos Community Garden hosts annual Día de los Muertos celebration this weekend
Campos Community Garden, at 644 E. 12th St. between Avenue B and C, will host its 14th annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration this weekend.
The community is invited to participate in a series of events honoring loved ones — both people and pets — through remembrance, art, and tradition.
The ofrenda (altar) is up today for viewing from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Community Celebration takes place tomorrow (Sunday) from 2 to 5 p.m., featuring a ceremonial dance by Cetiliztl Nauhcampa at 2:30 p.m.
Guests are welcome to bring photos, flowers, food or mementos to add to the garden's sheltered ofrenda in the gazebo.
Sunday's festivities will include arts and crafts, Mexican hot chocolate and sweet bread.
As always, this is a free event made possible by the support of local businesses and the garden's members.
