Signage alert: Fujisan Japanese Mart on 2nd Avenue

Signge is up now for Fujisan Japanese Mart at 159 Second Ave. on the SW corner of 10th Street.

This will be the first Manhattan outpost from the market, which has two outposts in Brooklyn and one in Astoria.

They offer a variety of Japanese snacks, as well as in-house-made sushi.

The storefront was previously Yummy Hive, a market that vanished in the middle of the night last March.

  1. Fantastic! I will frequent this location often.

  2. Notably, this is a 7-story walkup tenement, which can't have an elevator added because it's landmarked!

  3. Notably, this is NOT a landmarked building. Even if it were, it would be highly unlikely to be an interior landmark, which means the owner is generally free to make additions and alterations as long as they cannot be seen from the street

    1. I once had to visit one of the families on the top floor, and that was what I was told.
