A scene from today's celebration of Pakistan Independence Day outside Nishaan Chopped Cheese on First Avenue between Ninth Street and 10th Street.
The festivities brought Nishaan together with other Pakistani food vendors for food, music and community on the block.
Pakistan marks its Independence Day on Aug. 14, commemorating the country's independence in 1947. Tonight's East Village gathering was part of the city's ongoing celebrations today.
