A 6-story Basquiat mural is taking shape on the Bowery

A nearly six-floor-tall mural of Jean-Michel Basquiat is in the works on the SW corner of the Bowery at Great Jones.

This work-in-progress is still in the outline phase. On the lift: Owen Dippie, a New Zealand-based street artist.

At the time of his death in 1988, Basquiat lived two buildings to the west at 57 Great Jones St.
