Sidewalk shed returns to 147 First Ave.

Workers arrived this morning at First Avenue and Ninth Street to erect a new sidewalk shed for the mystery building...



Workers removed the other sidewalk shed here last Wednesday... The upper levels will soon be home to luxury apartments.

    There were men there on Saturday taking buckets of dirt out of the basement on the 9th St side.

    Have you ever noticed the building above I think Yummies on 3rd Ave, next to the parking lot, it also looks sealed up except one window is open with a curtain that blows in and out...aren't these old buildings old tenaments that were never either upgraded to code or torn down and instead fully used for commercial purposes?

    I have noticed that... That building has always intrigued me... There have been rumors that the building will be demolished once Nevada Smith's finds a new home...

    "Luxury apartments"?? One per floor, maybe. That building doesn't have much of a footprint and it's not very tall either.

    Wasn't there once a commenter here who used to work at Angelica's and said the upper floors had a lot of junk and their overstock from the store? I can't remember a time when that building was inhabited. Maybe someone will turn it into their personal McMansion.

    They used to grow weed on the top floors. Broker friend showed the building once and thats what they were doing in there, not large scale, but def. growing.

    Also, its going to be a boutique hotel. Too small for residential
