The new scourge of our neighborhoods: Church chimes

These were spotted on St. Mark's between First Avenue and Avenue A.

  1. must be about the church on 7th between 1st and A, that changed its usual ding-dong bells to very annoying sing-song chimes!!! until the end of february, they played christmas songs that never ended. and now its some other sickly sweet songs. terrible. hope they go back to the ding-dongs!!!

  2. Does Hostess still make Ding Dongs?

Sorry. I'm not making light of this. I'm curious if anyone reached out to the church officials about this...

  4. WTF is wrong with you people - it stops at 6 for crying out loud - they are churchbells!

  5. They are NOT Ding Dongs this side of the Mississippi - they are Ring Dings.

And, despite my atheistic fervor, I love the church bells, though it took me years to get used to them.

  6. It is weird about that church on 7th Street (1st and A)...I live right nearby. They played Christmas carols long after Christmas was over. And then continued with all kinds of annoying stuff.

I felt like asking them to play some Woody Guthrie tunes, or The Internationale, just to demand equal time.

  7. Exactly. What's wrong with church bells? especially nowadays -- they drown out the the sound of the screeching yunnies or the loudmouth douchebags and fratboys on their cellphones or just simply talking in public. I suppose they'd want a pharmacy to take over the churches?

Anyway, what about this ding ding dong?
