A little bit of Soho in the East Village: From steamed lobster to steamed dry cleaning

Thanks to the tipster for pointing out that the former Urban Lobster, which closed in late March, will soon be home to a dry cleaner on Houston near Avenue A. Well, nothing wrong with that, I suppose, except...

Kapri II dry cleaners is about 200 feet to the east on Houston...

  1. Not only a redundant service, but the people at Kapri are helpful, charming, and do extremely professional work. I see self-destructive price wars ahead.
I was so hoping, given the space, for a fishmonger.

  2. Not sure I'd want to drop my clothes off to be steamed in a place that formerly processed smelly shellfish...

  3. If the EV will ever attain the charm of let's say....the UWS, then every block must include and only include:

    1. A dry cleaner
    2. A nail salon
    3. An eyeglass store
    4. A Thai restaurant
    5. An Italian restaurant
    6. A Chase bank
    7. CVS, Duane Reade, or Walgreens

C'mon Grieve, we are almost there!

  4. Yes, HG! Don't forget the spa -- 30minutes for $30! Every block needs a place to get backrubs.
