East Village bars Drop Off Service, Planet Rose, Forbidden City, Common Ground, Habibi Lounge, and Superdive will donate 50% of their register on Monday, Aug. 31 (all day and night) to set up a college fund for the children of murdered bouncer Eric “Taz” Pagan.

ReplyDeleteI remeber seeing TAZ walking his daughter to school, her pink backpack or lunchbox or whatever in hand when she was younger. This big guy being with such a delicate side, I am haunted by this memory. And sickened by the monster that would make that child an orphan.

We are more than bars and a stepping stone for self centered brats from the suburbs.
what about destination?
ReplyDeleteI don't want to sound like a cynic but I doubt any of these bars will ring that much more then $2000 on a Monday. This means that the family won't be getting more then $6000. This is purely symbolic. If the bars wanted to do something for the family they could at least give up 50% of the ring on a Saturday.

ReplyDeleteBecause it's a hollow gesture. Sunday and Monday are the slowest nights for bars. If they really wanted to do something for the family the could at least pick their busiest nights.
