Please meet the next corner of the Bowery primed for something luxurious

Yesterday, Eater broke the news that a new eatery is in the works at the former Sunshine Hotel Annex on the Bowery at Stanton Street...

Now... it looks as if yet another corner of the Bowery is ready to fall into the hands of luxury ... The space is available immediately at 348-352 Bowery, which is these three properties:

The killer here is the corner of Great Jones... home of the auto repair shop... this business has been doomed for years... just waiting for the day to be swallowed up in the wake of the Varvatos-DBGB-Bowery Hotel luxury invasion... the listing says this 800-square-feet of outdoor space is available... and that restaurants are welcome! But of course!

Some facts from the listing:

neighboring tenants
John Varvatos, Rogan Jeans, Whole Foods Market, DBGB, Gemma, Double Crown, Il Buco, Pulino's Bar & Pizzeria, and Five Points Restaurant

comments
- Nightlife corridor
- Unbeatable 24 hour/seven-day-a-week traffic
- In close proximity to The Bowery Hotel and The Cooper Square Hotel
- Located among some of downtown's best eateries
- Can be combined
- Restaurants welcome

Can we put this one into our McNally Effect folder too? And here's how it all might fit together...

Meanwhile, one of the properties for lease is the former sales office for Village Green, your favorite eco-indulgent condoplex on East 11th Street...Given the apparent success of Village Green... an off-site office may not be necessary...

  1. i've been waiting for that little auto repair shop to go. it's come to look so incongruous, the mechanics sitting outside on the sidewalk, around all that glitter and glass.

    very sad.

  2. The day Great Jones Cafe is forced to close, I'm moving to Brooklyn. Or the Bronx. You heard it here first!

  3. Wait, wait, wait...are we sure about the mechanic shop? I pass by there at least twice a day and love that corner. They have some great signs and old license plates. The guys are pretty nice there, too.

  5. A Mars Bar closure may be the last straw for many people...

  6. I hate to say it, but I don't think Mars Bar has much life left in it.

  8. I know, Goggla... I think a lot of people are afraid to admit this...

  9. Missed your first comment, Goggla... Yeah, look at diagram — that tire repair shop is a goner. I really hate to see that.

  10. There are some places on that block that are actually cool, like Takamichi Hair, Partner and Spade, Dashwood Books and that Japanese beef shop. But I always thought it's that auto shop and the fire house that make Great Jones different. When every nice little street in the area is lined with high-end stores and over-hyped restaurants, some of you will miss the old Great Jones.

  11. Isn't that side of Bowery a designated historic district as of a year or so ago? Wouldn't that limit the type of structure that could be placed there?

  12. Never mind, just looked it up. These three lots were specifically carved out of the NOHO historic area expansion. Sorry to say it, but the current buildings are goners, and there is no reason to be optimistic about what will replace them.

  13. Just a warning to potential buyers, NoHo is poised and ready to make your plans disolve if you apply for a liquor license. NoHoManhattan.org
