Police helicopter in action again

After last night's episode ...Several EV Grieve readers pinpointed the helicopter this evening to east of Avenue C and roughly a little south of Seventh Street...

We arrived to find a very low-flying helicopter... no word just yet on what or who they were looking for...

As EV Grieve reader Erin noted, "Last week a burglar came in through a 2nd floor window in our building on e 6th betw B & C. My neighbor screamed when she saw him, and he ran off. Some construction is being done on the ground floor, and the fire scape ladder had been extended down the ground - that's how I think he got up."

  1. This incident centered around 20 ave D . The reason for the copter was to search neighboring rooftops for a man with a gun .As far as I know no one was taken into custody and no one was injured . .

Earlier there was another gun run with possible shots fired and injuries but victim declined treatment .this was in the same eastern reaches of the East Village . We don't have much detail on this event .

  3. Thank you for the information, Bob. I also saw two men in handcuffs on Third Street while I was walking toward First Avenue early last evening. Not much hoopla. No police cars. Just about 5-6 undercover cops in various street clothes.

  5. Wasn't burgalries . The two events that we noted involved folks with guns goin after others .Why ? don't know the full story but it wasn't burglaries.

Wake up ! there are people out there with guns , many of them are teenagers too.Burglaries are not in general the most dangerous thing out there .

Strong arm robbery is not burglary . It is robbery using brute force .In the case noted the event occured at an early evening hour where ther is a lot of foot traffic .

....and we're only noting here but a bit of what is going on everyday out there in your East Village neighborhood.
