ConEd back on 11th Street; ditto for 10th Street

We recently noted that ConEd had wrapped up its work on First Avenue and 11th Street... and just like that, the steampipe is back ...

ConEd has also been working day and night on 10th Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue....apparently there are (or were) a few buildings and other other assorted apartments without power...

Thanks to EV Grieve reader Blue Glass for these two photos...

  2. Hi Lisa,

I have a memory that ConEd just replaced these same pipes like five years ago...

  3. They did.

Planned obsolescence - and you thought it was just for appliances.

  4. con edison tore up 10th and 11th streets (was it river to river or just the east side?) to suppy more electric for all the new buildings.
they never repaired the street properly and uneven paving allowed stagnent water to "pool" at the curbs. con edison said it was not their fault.
why can't con edison look at the past and create a plan for the summer?
where have all the american brains excaped to?
